About Ranger Pate

Testimonials

Let this be a whole hearted recommendation for "Ridin' the Rough String with Ranger Pate."  This show began airing a number of years ago on KICE... Home of the Radio Rangers in Bend, Oregon.  This station was cutting edge in 80's and 90's, programming an eclectic, unique sound without the daily redundancy.  It was easy to listen to all day long.

Pate's show was an intregal part of that lineup, bringing western music to the forefront with knowledgeable information regarding it's origin.  He seeks out original artists and recordings and blends them together in a way that takes you back to the rugged individualism of the Old West.  You can practically feel the evening breezes, smell the sage and juniper and hear the creak of saddle leather.

Pat Marks (Ranger Pate) will spin a tale with words and music that'll put a grin on your face every time.  Cowboys are just about the most sentimental individuals on the planet and the memories Ridin' the Rough String will conjure up are both nostalgic and most enjoyable.  With that, I again highly recommend this show to any medium that has listeners who revere and long for the way it used to be... in the Old West.

Thanks for listenin',

Hi,
My name is Steve Leon, I am the Program Director at Country 99.7 The Mountain (KMTK) in Bend, Oregon.  We have been running Ridin' the Rough String with Ranger Pate since we signed the station on the air in June of 2000.  The show is a local favorite  here in Central Oregon.  Fans of the show are treated to western music, cowboy poetry and an occasional episode from the Smithsonian collection of old-tyme radio westerns.  As Program Director, I love the opportunity to give listeners a unique program with such a special niche.

If you have had enough of the contemporary country countdowns and other run of the mill special programs that are offered by the big syndicators and you are looking for a professionally produced, entertaining show offering something different, take a listen to Ridin' the Rough String with Ranger Pate, Sundays from 7-8pm on Country 99.7 The Mountain.

Sincerely,

Steve Leon

I find Ranger Pate's "Ridin the Rough String" an excellent program. It is always entertaining and is a great link to the past of the Ol' timey music and stories as well as a great insight to the new and untapped Western Cowboy type artists out there. A person tunes in to the program and gets caught up in the show. Before you know it, its over and you can't wait till the next one. I also have experienced the program from an advertisers point of view and found it to be a great value. I can't tell you how many customers at my saddle shop came in saying "I heard ya on the Rough String."

Sincerely,

Brett Mills
